Every parent deserves a special treat so what better way to spend your holiday than luxuriating in the delicacy of Champagne in beautifully rural surroundings? In actual fact, Le Manoir Champagnois is a treat for all the family. Not only do these two beautifully decorated gites offer you a charming place to relax but they are an easy drive from Calais and even closer (90 minutes) to Disneyland Paris. The owners, Grant and Sandra, are warm and welcoming hosts and are on hand to answer questions, call the doctor or provide some top tips on how to get the best out of your day at Disneyland (see below). They will also guide you in your quest to learn about the region and its most famous product - the champagne itself; the weekly champagne tastings are a real hit with guests. Sandra`s range of delicious home cooked meals allows you to decide when to have a night away from the kitchen. Alternatively, make use of their local restaurant suggestions and babysitting service to have a `grown-up` evening a deux! The two gites are within the grounds of this beautiful manor house, a house that has, amongst other things, been used as a snail farm and was occupied by the Germans during the 2nd world war. The grounds of the Manoir are a perfect setting for a family holiday; they include a fabulous orchard from which the owners produce their own blend of apple juice and they enjoy almost unending views over Champagne`s gently undulating countryside. A `promenade nature` within the grounds provides a route through the long grass and wild flowers giving children the freedom to career around and explore within a safe and secure environment. Alternatively, take a dip in the splash pool, play in the sand pit or choose your sunny spot in the garden, sip your champagne and watch the children fly in and out of the apple trees. Holidaying here will be a true delight! And Beyond...
The village itself is as rural and as French as it gets and there in lies its utter charm. The bread man toots his horn (almost) daily to alert you to his tantalising array of fresh pain au chocolate and croissants, creating a hub bub of activity which otherwise ebbs and flows with little other than the gentle chug of a tractor. If a change of pace is what you are after then Le Manoir Champaignois could be the answer. This lesser discovered region of France is without doubt worth the quick hop over the Channel to explore. If the bubbly itself and the allure of rest and relaxation is not enough then why not visit the local markets, pretty villages and beautiful countryside? This countryside is ideal for walking with a pram or cycling along the miles of farm track that lead straight from the door. There is plenty of wildlife to enjoy here too: deer, buzzards and many other animals co-exist with man in this most gentle of landscapes. The area is also remarkable for its history, most notably during the first and second world wars. Relics of this era are many and demand a moment or two of reflection. Disneyland, Paris Mention must be made to one of the region`s greatest hits - Disneyland! This is without doubt a `must-do` for those with kids and is only 90 minutes away by car.
