What we think... Perched on the hillside with fabulous views over the walnut trees (les noyers) and valley beyond, Les Gites Noyers are stunning places to stay. Put simply, everything has been carefully thought out for every member of the family. Obviously all the family friendly kit is here but it is the `extras` that make Les Gites Noyers such a special place. For the kids... Trampoline (with safety net) Wooden climbing frame in the woods for older children Climbing frame for toddlers
It is difficult to see how you are going to get your little ones home from here without a battle! From the enormous sandpit and swimming pool to the ready supply of ice cream, they are likely to want to stay. Les Gites Noyers are a dream for little ones. With days spent canoeing on the Dordogne (ideal for children aged 2 and over) and then returning to the gite for a splash in the pool and a play in the sand, keeping everyone entertained is easy; you will find that you are actually having a holiday. Then there are the swings, the indoor play area equipped with Lego, books and toys for all ages, playhouse, bikes and so the list goes on. And then, if at any time you are lost for things to do, there are always the 52 acres of woodland to explore... Even the homecooked food is designed to appeal to a toddler`s tastebuds whilst being still being OK by mum! The menu includes Spaghetti Bolognaise and Chicken Basquaise (gluten free) or beef burgers in Ciabatta and will certainly be a welcome relief for whoever is responsible for cooking back home. For the adults... Putting it simply, everything has been thought of here, for every member of the family. Apart from the tastefully decorated gites (think Country Living meets French gite), the swimming pool and the lovely tennis court there is a bar area (yes the Baby Monitor`s walkabout handset does reach that far!) for some gentle socialising if you wish. The bar, pool and home-cooked food service are all available from mid-May onwards. The atmosphere at Les Gites Noyers is one of happy peace and relaxation, an ambience which is very much down to Helen and Steve whose unobtrusive warmth and hospitality make this place a total gem. The Gites... The gites themselves are beautiful and many feature antique French furniture and beautiful fabrics. Five of the nine gites are built in traditional stone whilst the remaining four villas are a more recent addition and are built specifically to deal the with the heat. The villas have been carefully landscaped to incorporate plenty of lavender and a choice of terraces on which to enjoy the evening sun. Parent Point! Self-service clothes washing facilities are provided centrally and TVs and videos are available to hire at a daily or weekly rate. You may also hire swimming towels at 5 Euros a week each to save space in the packing! And beyond... The lush green countryside of the Dordogne is the perfect backdrop to a great child friendly holiday in France. With a multitude of chateaux and enchanting bastide towns to explore as well as the mighty river itself, you and your family will have plenty to keep you occupied. Canoeing on the Dordogne comes very highly recommended as do the myriad of restaurants in the local towns of Cadouin and Belves where you might wish to try some of the local delicacies, including foie gras and Monbazillac pudding wine. Your Journey Getting to the Dordogne is a breeze. Many of the local regional airports now service regular flights to Bergerac or Bordeaux airports, offering both convenience and flexibility. Alternatively you may wish to drive. It is approximately a nine hour journey from Caen and we would suggest that you break up your journey in a family friendly hotel in and around Tours (in the Loire valley). This is also a great stop-off as you can use it as an opportunity to visit one of the great chateaux of the Loire or perhaps go to the zoo. Before booking, please read about Realistic Expectations. You should also read our Terms and Conditions.
