This small cluster of 4 gites, set within the beautiful countryside between Toulouse and Carcassonne is a fantastic place to spend a week or two. Visit the local town of Castelnaudary - only 10 minutes away- and sample the cassoulet for which it is justly famous. Or hire bikes and cycle along the Canal du Midi, just outside the local village. With the Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees within striking distance as well as the delights of the walled town of Carcassonne itself you will have plenty to keep you occupied. Should you be after a more peaceful holiday, the enclosed pool, lovely views and friendly atmosphere of Les Gites d`Anjou should do the trick. The gites d`Anjou are particularly suited to the needs of a family - Le Tournesol (3 bedrooms), Le Coquelicot and La Lavande (2 bedrooms) and Le Gite Grain d`Orge (2 bedrooms) - and are fully kitted out for families with children of any age. They all have dishwashers, washing machine, microwave, TV and DVD and Satellite TV (including BBC). The gites are housed in a renovated farm building, with spectacular unbroken views over the fields. The resident owners, Caroline and David, are on hand to ensure that all goes well and offer a warm welcome to their visitors. Their discreet yet friendly presence ensures that you have nothing to worry about and their knowledge of the area means that you receive a valuable insight into local life. You can also make requests at the time of booking. Outside The gites themselves overlook the gardens and the swimming pool. Garden toys help to keep the children occupied and a shared BBQ area means that a convivial atmosphere abounds. The whole set-up affords children the opportunity to meet other playmates during their holiday. The glorious enclosed swimming pool is a true hit with children and adults alike and is particularly suitable for toddlers with a stepped entrance. In the other direction, far-reaching views over the fields of barley or sunflowers help to create a peaceful and relaxed stay, away from the stresses of everyday life back home. And beyond...
Only 1 mile away (about 20 minutes walk) from the charming village of Labastide d`Anjou (complete with a bakery, butcher, pharmacy, two hotel/restaurants, a doctor and a dentist), the Les Gites d`Anjou are perfectly placed to explore this fascinating corner of south west France. The nearest supermarket is 7 minutes in the car at Castelnaudary. With Toulouse and the medieval city of Carcassonne only 45 minutes away and the Mediterranean coast and Pyrenees mountains within an hour`s drive, there is plenty to keep every member of the family happy.
