Famous Lascaux Caves What we think... With stunning views of the Vezere Valley, this large family home could easily house at least one family, if not two plus a brood of children of different ages. Inside There are three double bedrooms, two of which have spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Three further bedrooms provide plenty of beds for the children to choose from. In total there are three single beds, plus a set of bunk beds and ample bathroom and shower facilities. The main living and dining accommodation is open plan and ideal for family life. The large wood burning stove is perfect for those cosy spring and autumn evenings - why not curl up with a good book and a glass of wine and enjoy the peace and quiet? Once again this room takes advantage of the spectacular views. Next door is a roomy family kitchen with a table and all the mod cons - dishwasher, fridge, oven and bread machine. Outside French doors lead directly out of the kitchen onto a sun drenched terrace which is excellent for outdoor living. A second terrace provides much needed shade under the sycamore tree whilst a third, decked terrace is where you will find the enclosed swimming pool - hours of fun for adults and children alike. The views from all these terraces are spectacular! For the kids there is a further safe and enclosed garden area around the base of the house complete with a swing and climbing ropes. This garden is perfect for the children to tear around in and to let off steam! Opposite the house is wooded hillside to explore and an area devoted to the traditional game of pétanque. Parent Point: The house is adjacent to a road which means there will be some road noise. The gardens and terraces are set up above the road as the house is set against a hill and are totally safe. In the mornings, send a party off to the local village to fetch the bread and croissants - a mere ten minute walk away through the woods. Here you will find a boulangérie/épicerie, bar/tabac and restaurant - all within striking distance. With the caves, chateaux, boat tours, canoeing, markets and much, much more, the question is what to do first? The children will love exploring the prehistoric caves, hollowed out into the rock face or canoeing down the famous Dordogne River whilst the grown ups can turn their taste buds to a touch of wine tasting or some of the region’s other delicacies including foie gras, truffles and goat`s cheese. There is even a lake close by for swimming in and many lovely villages to explore.
