What Claire thinks...
There is everything you could possibly need for a safe and relaxing family holiday at Bramble!  Sandra has thought of everything, from the ‘no cars in the courtyard' during the week rule, allowing children to play safely in the central grassed play area, to the heated, enclosed pool, toddler pool and covered play barn to the bright, fresh, welcoming decor inside the property.  Within easy reach with a 3 wheeler buggy (available to borrow) are forest activities and walks, the facilities of the local village and many restaurants, beaches and other activities are within a short drive.  All the properties at The Steadings are beautifully and neutrally decorated.  The owners have maintained many of the original features such as beams and stonework whilst equipping them with all mod cons.

Inside
The door from the terrace at the front of Bramble leads into the open plan living / dining area.  At the back of this space is the well equipped kitchen with its window onto the playbarn and the horse paddocks beyond.  Older children playing in the barn can therefore be seen from the kitchen so it is easy for parents to keep an eye on them.

There is a dining are with a table for 8 at one end and a comfortable seating area with TV/DVD/Freeview.

Leading off the living area is a downstairs double bedroom with ensuite shower room, perfect for accompanying grandparents who would prefer to be away from the early risers upstairs!

The stairs (gated top and bottom) lead up from the living area to 3 further bedrooms and a family bathroom.  As is the case with all the rooms at The Steadings, the decor is fresh and neutral.  There are 2 twin bedrooms with velux windows and blackout blinds as well as a double bedroom with a pretty window onto the courtyard (protected by a grille on the outside).  This bedroom also has an ensuite shower room. The family bathroom has a bath with a shower attachment tap (ideal for 'no tears' hairwashing!), sink and loo.

Outside
Bramble has a small semi-private terrace at the front of the property, facing onto the courtyard and grassy play area shared by all the properties.  A table and chairs and BBQ is provided outside the property. Parents could happily while away an hour here with a chilled glass of white whilst the children play just yards away.  The courtyard area is completely fenced and gated so is very safe and guests are only permitted to drive in to drop off and pick up.  The rest of the time, cars are left in the gravel parking area outside the fence so the play area is completely safe.

The owners have provided swings, slides and a play house for little ones and older children and there is even a tree house belonging to the owners children close to the pool (the ladder can be removed to avoid curious little people trying to climb up if required).

Off the courtyard is the enclosed and gated pool area, where the pool is heated to 27/28 degrees and there is a separate toddler pool (the pool is open from May - Oct). The main pool also has Roman steps into the shallow end for tots who are finding their feet in the ‘grown up' pool.

Close to this area (and behind Bramble) is the playbarn with table tennis, table football, toddler trampoline, Little Tikes cars, bikes, etc.  This is perfect for burning off steam on rainy days or for older children to congregate in the evenings.  Behind here are the owner's paddocks and horses, where little ones are welcome to help with feeding at around 5pm, if they're not already busy with their own ‘nosebag'!

Across the courtyard from Bramble is an extra little ‘secret garden' area with trees and a bench which has proved a popular spot for hide and seek or for story time before bed.

Parent Point: The terrace at the front of Bramble has a step down onto the gravel surrounding the courtyard area.  Parents of unsteady walkers should beware of their little ones climbing up and down this.  On the other hand, it has proved to be the perfect height for a little chair on which to sit whilst making gravel mountains!

For the children...
The whole property has been kitted out with young children in mind, from the toys and bikes in the playbarn to the separate toddler pool to the host of baby and toddler equipment. There are also bikes available for hire for 40 Euros per week or 8 Euros per day. Sandra will even dry towels or children's bedding in her tumble dryers if needed!

And Beyond...
There is so much to see and do within easy reach of The Steadings that you'll never be bored!

Immediately behind the property is the Camors forest, part of the national forest network.  A gated path from behind the pool area gives access straight into the forest and to the numerous walks - many suitable for bikes or buggies and all of varying length.  Also within walking distance within the forest is an adventure park with zip wires and rope bridges for older children, as well as a toddler play area.

The village is close by and the busy market towns of Baud (3km) and Pluvigner (7km) are just a short drive away. A good selection of restaurants, shops and supermarkets can be found in both. There are pony rides within approx. 3-4 miles.

The lovely medieval towns of Vannes and Auray are within 20 minutes drive and the beaches of Southern Brittany - from the chic Carnac to the surfer's paradise of Quiberon - are only approx. 25 mins away.  The local markets are full of character and colour and food lovers will be spoilt for choice!

For golfers there are several courses in under an hour's drive and for boating or fishing enthusiasts (fishing lakes nearby), the owners can accommodate equipment storage in their safely locked barn (outside the courtyard area so beyond the reach of little ones).
