Click here to find out more about this cluster of gites or to look at the other gites. What we think This gite forms one of four carved out of a traditional Brittany ‘long-house’ and is full of period character. It is part of this very well served gite cluster and being the largest gite here gives you slightly more space than the others whilst also benefiting from its own private terrace area. This property would make a great base to explore this famous part of France as well as a lovely place to simply put your feet up and relax in the knowledge that your children will be safe and happy. Inside The main feature of this gite is the lovely L-shaped living and dining area that has oak beams and a tiled hearth with wood burning stove – perfect for relaxing in front of on those chillier spring or autumn evenings. A French dresser contains plenty of books and board games which you are welcome to use. An arch leads through to the kitchen that is fully equipped with a gas oven, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. The back-door from the kitchen leads to the private outdoor space and patio with garden furniture seating up to 6 and a BBQ. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms off a large hallway (where you could put a cot). There is a double, a twin and a single which has a full-sized pull-out bed for a 6th person if necessary. The shower room is also upstairs and is small yet modern. Shared laundry facilities are available on site and the English owners visit every day to deliver home cooked food and to do anything they can to help you to enjoy your stay. Parent Point! The stairs are gated top and bottom but are quite steep; young children will need to be supervised when using the stairs.

Outside The biggest draw will of course be the large, enclosed and heated swimming pool! Sun shades and sun loungers mean that when it comes to having a few minutes to yourself, you will be well catered for too. New for 2008, and a real hit, is the very well equipped children’s play room which will entertain your small ones for hours in the safety of the shade. It has books, puzzles, lego, bean bags, TV and DVD and somewhere for the grown ups to sit. Outside the children can run around the large shared gardens and choose from the short tennis, badminton, boules, swing, slide, climbing ladder as well as numerous other games to play with. All this means that you do not have to get in your car nearly as often as everyone should be so happy to stay put – and this is the basis of a relaxing holiday with your children. Baby and toddler friendly!

And Beyond These gites are perfectly situated to take advantage of all there is to do in this attractive and popular part of rural France. Napoleonic Pontivy (7 miles away) lies on the river Blavet and is the nearest big town. Pontivy hosts a good Monday street market and has an interesting selection of boutiques and cafes for you to explore en famille – there are also markets on every other morning of the week in towns and villages locally. The beach resort of Carnac is only 40 minutes away by car although the largest lake in Brittany – Le Lac de Guerledan – is even closer from where you can hire canoes, pedaloes, small sailing dinghies or just have a good walk or cycle ride with a picnic. Bike hire is available from Pontivy or St Nicolas des Eaux (ask at the gites for details of all these activities – your hosts will be only too glad to help). Canoe & kayak lovers are well catered for locally and the nearest golf course is only 15 minutes drive away. If fishing is your thing then the river Blavet is a fine angling river and permits are available locally. There are plenty of well marked walking routes too with easy walking along the Nantes-Brest canal. Nearby towns worth a visit are Vannes, Quiberon, Carnac & Huelgoat.
