During July and August, this property is only available with Astier Maison de Maitre and for 2 week bookings only.

Available in conjunction with La Maison d’Astier in peak season and by itself for the rest of the year when the grounds and pool are shared, this lovely 4 bedroom gite is a treat!  Formerly the stable block, it has been beautifully converted to retain many of the original features that give a property of this age its charm.  The exposed beams and old stone fireplace make it is easy to see the history of the building.

No, we didn't receive a good standard of service - we received a fantastic standard of service!!  Nothing was any trouble to the owner, whether it was giving advice, or providing extra facilities, or just generally chatting and making us feel welcome (…) I only wish we could've stayed longer.
Paula and family June 08

The stable block sleeps 7 people in four bedrooms, although at full occupancy, the living accommodation is cosy:
Master bedroom: A king size double bed with door out into the garden and the pool (downstairs)
Bedroom 2: A sunny double bedroom with views out into the garden
Bedroom 3: A twin bedroom with views out into the garden
Bedroom 4: A small single room that also houses a good quality wooden cot.

Upstairs comprises 3 bedrooms (including the cot/single room); one bathroom with bath, basin and washing machine; one shower room with shower, small basin and loo and one separate cloakroom with a loo and a basin.

Parent Points:
All upstairs windows are fitted with child locks that allow them to open but prevent a child getting through.

Downstairs the open plan sitting and dining room area has glorious French doors which open onto the garden and a small but charming kitchen complete with a range cooker.  There is also a stereo and DVD connected to a small TV (the TV is only for DVDs as there is no TV reception in the Stable).

Housekeeping Facts
All towels (bath and swimming towels) and linen is provided, with a change of linen provided at the end of each weeks stay - all included in the price.  There is a washing machine and a welcome pack is provided on arrival. A baby pack can be pre-ordered and is payable locally.  Metered electric heating is available and is charged locally if required.

Outside
The large walled garden provides a safe haven for the children and is enclosed at both ends by electric gates.  The large swimming pool (14 metres) is fully enclosed ensuring that little ones do not find their way into the enclosure without parental supervision.  Care is required on the steps in and out of the pool.  The pool is open from April to October but is not heated.

A covered terrace and a gas BBQ provide the perfect setting for al fresco living.  There are also swings and a slide as well as a vegetable patch and private gated parking for up to 4 cars.

Other facilities...
You can arrange for a home cooked meal to be delivered to your gite on the night of your arrival.  This is great for your first night and saves you having to worry about what do cook!  There is a great menu, which includes Lasagne Bolognase, Pasta pesto alla rucola and Penne alla carbonara.  Please enquire for further details.

And beyond…
Few of our houses enjoy such a convenient setting allied to the splendours of such a gorgeous period house.  The Stable is set in the heart of a busy large village which has no fewer than 5 boulangeries for your breakfast croissants and a large supermarket which sells everything from nappies to fresh fish.  There are a further 5 family friendly cafes and restaurants from which to choose from and if cooking is just not your scene, or you fancy a break from the kitchen, then you can order a restaurant quality meal to be enjoyed at home.  Market day is held on a Thursday, just a stone’s throw from the front door and for many will be the highlight of the week.  The convenience, colours, shapes, tastes and smells are a treat and great fun for all.  A smaller, organic market is held on a Sunday.  There is also a small cinema.

From the door you can choose to walk around the village or straight up into the Perigordian hills beyond.  Alternatively, take your little one for a walk in the pram along the river or enjoy many of the events that happen throughout the summer, including antiques fairs (‘brocantes’), music festivals, night markets and outstanding firework displays all of which are gratuite!  For slightly older children (post toddler) a stay here would not be complete without a canoe trip down the River Isle.  This is an immensely pleasant way to pass a couple of hours, particularly if you take a picnic and relax into the pace of the river.  Nearby are some fantastic child friendly stables with beautifully trained Shetland ponies the size of large dogs!  This is the perfect place for your child to try the sport for the first time or for more experienced riders to have some fun.

For the odd rainy day, there is a very family friendly bowling park in Perigieux which is near lots of restaurants.

Parent Point:  Being so central there are two nights in the year when the music can be heard from the house.  The dates of these change annually.

Before booking, please read about Realistic Expectations.  You should also read our Terms and Conditions.
