This fabulous 3 bedroom property is the west wing of the Le Beau Château and oozes the grandeur that you would expect from such a building. Its large farmhouse kitchen provides all the amenities that one could hope for - dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer- and its large table is ideal for family meals. The living room has a fantastic woodburning stove for those spring and autumn evenings. It is furnished in a careful and sympathetic manner with oak and leather furniture. The 3 large bedrooms (2 doubles and one twin) are all impressive in their scale and character - with 2 on the 1st floor and the master suite on the ground floor with double doors leading out on to a courtyard. Le Petit Château has 2 bathrooms, one of which is surprisingly roomy with a corner bath, and also an en-suite WC. Outside Le Petit Château enjoys its own private terrace area against the old castle walls equipped with seating area and BBQ perfect for long summer evenings. Of course Le Beau Château`s fantastic family friendly facilities are also at your disposal. For the children If the pool, (solar heated - combined with an overnight solar blanket, averaging 24 degrees celsius), trampoline, sand pit and climbing frames are not enough there is always La Bergerie - the indoor play area- that has been beautifully renovated to provide a safe and shady area for the children to play in. As for the grown-ups: well, if the children are happy then - with a glass of chilled rosé in hand - the chances are they will be too!Archery, mountain biking, paragliding, horse riding, golfing and more. Le Beau Château has become a centre for archery. Children and adults alike can have a go at this historic sport with the help and guidance of an expert. The natural protection provided by the `bowl-like` geography of the area means that most days are perfect for having a go. Alternatively mountain bikes are available for hire and there are plenty of trails to explore. If you do need to keep in touch there is even a Wifi hotspot here so you can log-on wirelessly. If that is not enough there are local facilities for paragliding, horse riding, golf and more besides. You are unlikely to be stuck for things to do! Note: Please bring your own swimming towels. Le Beau Château is situated within a delightful Charentais village, perched on a hill. Its tranquil village location allows for gentle walks to one of the two bars, the 10th century church, to the village Post Office or into the countryside beyond. The Charente is a wonderfully rural department with pleasant rolling countryside and pretty little villages. There are many, many places to explore, from the local markets and restaurants to the larger towns of Riberac, Brantôme and Angouleme. Your Journey Getting to the west of France is no longer a chore. With great deals available from many local airports in the UK to Angouleme, Limoges, Poitiers, Bergerac, Bordeaux or even La Rochelle, it is worth considering flying to your destination and hiring a car. It is also quite possible to drive to this part of France being about 8 hours from Caen. We can recommend family friendly hotels for your journey down if you want to break the trip in the stunning Loire Valley and visit a chateau or two.
